The micro-course PC8000 Shovel Operator Role is aimed at strengthening the operator's responsibilities within the safe operation of the shovel, in accordance with section 6 (Responsibilities) of PTS SIG-5962. The content covers applying the safe work procedure, the use of personal protective equipment, knowledge of the equipment's condition and operation, two-way communication, requesting the work plan, and the timely reporting of unsafe conditions, at-risk acts and symptoms of fatigue or drowsiness.

The micro-course Introduction to the PTS for PC8000 Electric Shovel Operation corresponds to the General (G) component of the curriculum associated with PTS SIG-5962 V14. It presents the fundamentals participants must know before addressing the other components of the procedure: the objective and scope of the PTS, the operating areas where it applies, and the training requirements established for operating the PC8000 electric shovel.

The micro-course Excavation, Loading and Chine Change on the Bucyrus Shovel develops the established practices for safely carrying out excavation, truck loading and chine change on the Bucyrus shovel. Participants will learn to apply the correct excavation sequence, maintain adequate floor and loading-area conditions, control maneuvers and distances while interacting with trucks, manage hard material and oversized rocks, and coordinate the chine change by radio from a safe and visible position. The content corresponds to section 9 of PTS SIG-5361.

The micro-course Safe Shovel Operation: From Setup to Equipment Shutdown develops the controls required to safely operate the PC8000 and Bucyrus electric shovels throughout the different stages of the task. Participants cover the initial positioning of the equipment, safety controls during loading, procedures for relocations and power cut-offs, safe repositioning including cable handling and associated systems, and the correct shutdown of the equipment. The content is associated with PTS SIG-5361 and SIG-5962 and integrates complementary procedures for shovel movement and the handling of medium-voltage cables.
